Home Campaign

Can you imagine not having a home? For many of us, that seems so unlikely that we can’t picture it. But nearly 2000 people in Indianapolis were homeless last year, and many more are constantly insecure about their housing. They are often just an unexpected car repair or medical bill away from the unthinkable.

Second Presbyterian Church assists families who are on the brink of disaster, demonstrating the love and compassion of Christ in tangible and meaningful ways. Our Utility and Rent Assistance Program (URAP) is set to provide over $100,000 in financial assistance for our food pantry families this year, but we cannot do so without your help.

Contributions to the 2026 Home Campaign support the URAP program, but are also used to support home repairs, home building efforts, and homeless shelters meeting needs in our community.

Please consider a gift to this year’s Home Campaign. To give, click the GIVE button below and select "HOME26."

Legacy Gifts

“Any temporal possession can be turned into everlasting wealth. Whatever is given to Christ is immediately touched with immortality.” - A.W. Tozer

A Legacy Gift is a future contribution planned by you to benefit the work and mission of Second Presbyterian Church. A planned or estate gift can be as simple as including Second Presbyterian Church in your will, or by naming Second as a beneficiary of a retirement fund or life insurance policy. Gifts to Second can even benefit you during your lifetime such as a Charitable Gift Annuity which pays you a fixed rate annually with the remainder benefitting the church at your death.

Click here to learn more about options for including Second in your estate plans, contact the Office of Stewardship and Endowment, or email Nancy Frick.

The Beecher Society is named for Second’s first pastor, Rev. Henry Ward Beecher, and honors members and friends who have notified Second that they have included a gift to Second Presbyterian Church in their estate plans. The Beecher Society gathers for fun events during the year, is honored at Church events, and receives newsletters and remembrances on special occasions. To join the Beecher Society, please notify the Office of Stewardship and Endowment that you have included, or would like to include, a gift to Second Presbyterian in your estate plans.

The Endowment Fund

The Second Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund was established in 1923 by forward thinking members of the Congregation to “continue and maintain a permanent fund… to carry on the religious and charitable work of the Church.” An elected board of Second members oversees the professional management of the Endowment’s assets, and ensures that the Fund continues to flourish to meet the growing needs of the building, congregation, and community.

Each year the Endowment supports the Second’s annual budget through distributions that provide for building and operational expenses, and funding for many programs including Lake Fellows, Footsteps of Faith, CenterPoint Counseling, Music and Fine Arts, the Don and Karen Lake Buttrey Northside Food Pantry, mission and education programs.

Supporting the Endowment Fund by making an outright gift, or by including a gift to Second in your estate plans, helps ensure Second’s support for the Congregation and service to the community continues for years to come.
