Reimagining the Library Space

As you may have seen and/or heard, we are currently in the process of reimagining how the Library space is designed and how it functions.

For decades, the Library has served as an important role within the walls of Second Presbyterian Church. It has been a rich source of theological depth for members of Second and the broader community. It has also been an important place for people to gather and to play, especially the youngest among us.

We celebrate all the good and all the joy that has happened in this space, as we now begin to faithfully and prayerfully reimagine the new thing God is up to.

Our hope is that this space will be transformed into an area where we might be better equipped to extend welcome and hospitality to our friends and neighbors within the community – a space where folks can gather comfortably and with ease, a space that says, “Welcome, we’re so glad you’re here. We hope you’ll stay for a while.”

And while most of the books will be re-homed, our staff is looking forward to creating a curated collection of books within a ‘reading room,’ continuing the Library’s mission and legacy by offering theologically rich resources to our congregation and community.

Books that were previously donated in honor or in memory of a particular individual will continue to be available and accessible.

We appreciate your patience in this time of transition, and we are confident that this transformed space will be a gift to all who utilize it in the season of new life ahead.

In the meantime, please reach out to Rev. Tom Markey with any questions or concerns.
