Northside Community Garden

Your help is needed!

Please consider lending your time and talents to our garden. Contact Jeff Reese, our Garden Manager, with questions about the garden and how to get involved. Remember, all ages are welcome and no experience is necessary!
Open Garden
The garden is always open to volunteers interested in working independently. Just swing by the garden when your schedule allows and visit the bulletin board on the garden shed where “tasks of the day” are listed! Also, a step-by-step volunteer guide can be found in the brochure tube near the garden shed.
Guided Volunteer Hours
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, a member of the Garden Team will be on-site to help assist volunteers.
  • Tuesdays, 9:00 a.m. - noon
  • Wednesdays, 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. (or dark)
  • Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. - noon
Garden tasks include planting, watering, harvesting, weeding and sprucing up the Prayer Garden area. You can sign up to volunteer using SignUpGenius to volunteer. Contact Rev. Madison VanVeelen with questions.
Farmers Market Tables at Northside Food Pantry
This summer, the garden will host “farmers market” tables throughout the harvest season for our pantry clients. This a great way to come together with our pantry clients to learn and share ideas for using fresh vegetables in our everyday diets. Consider signing up to help co-host a table! (Dates TBD as harvest season approaches!)
Group Volunteer Opportunities
Interested in working with your small group, family, or participating as part of a service project? Please contact Kristin Ullom to set up a time to get started.
Adopt a Raised Bed Opportunities
The garden has several raised beds that are available for adoption. This is a unique way to support the Northside Food Pantry in a more hands-on and creative way. Simply plant your raised bed with a selection of items of your choice, and at harvest time share some of your bounty with the food pantry! Please contact Kristin Ullom if you’re interested in adopting a raised bed.
