LIVING FAITH

Sundays; 9 AM, Common Room
This class pauses for summer on May 19.

The more we bear witness to the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ in our broken world, the more we feel compelled to live out and act on our faith. This class explores various topics related to Christian faith and life in the world and seeks to bring biblical and theological education together with advocacy and action. It is coordinated by Dr. John Franke and includes sessions led by members of Second’s staff as well as outside speakers.

April 7-28
The Promise of Resurrection: Death, Dying, and the Life of Faith
 - Scripture teaches us that Christ has conquered sin and death; that we mortals will put on immortality when we die. And yet, dealing with the grief and pain of the death of ones we love and know is very hard. Death sometimes comes quietly at the end of a long life, or tragically when one suffers or dies young. How do we prepare ourselves to hold the pain and tragedy of death in tension with the promise of the resurrection? What kind of practical supports and preparation can help us and our loved ones to live and die well?

The Promise of Resurrection:
Death, Dying, and the Life of Faith

A study by the Care Ministries of Second Presbyterian Church

Death is described in scripture as the last enemy of the human experience to be defeated by Jesus the Christ (1 Corinthians 15:26). This class will explore various understandings of death, resurrection, and eternal life in the Bible and Christian tradition, celebrating the great hope of everlasting life with God.
