Today’s Call to Worship, Call to Confession and Charge are taken from Five Mystical Songs, composed early in the twentieth century by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. The poems come from a collection (The Temple: Sacred Poems) by Anglican priest George Herbert that was published the year of the author’s death, 1633. Music and text both share a depth of imagery and spirituality.
