Confirmation

Confirmation at Second Presbyterian Church is an opportunity and invitation for eighth graders to spend a school-year-long together (September-May) as they dive deeply into their faith in preparation to make a public profession of faith and enter active church membership.

Confirmation offers time and space for in-depth exploration of scripture and tradition. Confirmation is a dedicated time and space where questions, uncertainties, doubts, and curiosities can be interacted with in meaningful ways. Confirmation is an invitation to engage with many of the practices of our faith – prayer, worship, mission, hospitality, stewardship (and many more!).

Most importantly, confirmation is not a destination. Confirmation isn’t a graduation. Confirmation isn’t an arrival at some faith finish line. Confirmation is a continuation – part of the lifelong process of baptism, a life of discipleship. In confirmation we remember our baptism, we renew our covenant with God, and we recall God’s covenant with us.
