Shepherd Community is an inner city ministry serving the near-Eastside of Indianapolis: an area with the highest percentage of children in all of Marion county and the fourth poorest. They have many programs truly trying to make a difference in the spiritual, emotional and academic lives of each persons life. But it’s difficult to listen and learn when you are hungry. Especially for a child. 

Each Sunday morning Presbyterian Churches fix breakfast for the children before they go to Sunday school and church. Our turn is the third Sunday of each month. All it takes is a couple of hours to fix and serve a hearty and nourishing breakfast for them. The rewards are priceless: grins, smiles, thank you’s and requests for seconds! Some of the kids now offer to help serve and even bring in their report cards to share.
