Mariners

A major focus of the Presbyterian church is the education and faith development of congregation members. At Second Presbyterian, we offer a full range of adult education options. In addition, several Bible studies take place throughout the week.
The following classes meet on Sunday morning. Please refer to the Upcoming Events on the calendar for details, times and room assignments for each class.
Theology, Thoughts and Coffee
Dr. Richard Baker leads this lively, in-depth discussion of Scripture, theology, contemporary and classic books, and current issues. This is a terrific class if you like to read and discuss – and, really, once the coffee starts flowing, it’s not that early.
Coupled in Christ
The Coupled in Christ class centers on enhancing family spirituality, understanding the Bible, finding God in today’s world and exploring contemporary ideas. Coupled in Christ members, a group of families with young children, also join together for social events and mission projects.
Faith in Action
This dynamic class explores contemporary social subjects and how we can use our faith to support change in keeping with biblical teachings. We invite community experts to present topical issues and engage in fascinating discussions about how our faith shapes our world.
Koinonia
This class is a community within the church, which, through fellowship, study and service, shares and grows in its faith in Jesus Christ. In addition to Sunday morning class, Koinonia members meet for Bible study, social gatherings and mission projects.
Mariners
Mariners believe that Christian discipleship, fellowship and service go hand in hand. The lay-led class, by means of dialogue and member participation, focuses on personal growth, study, spiritual renewal, church and community projects, as well as fun filled social functions. The class welcomes married and single adults to join us on their Christian voyage.
Words on the Word
Dr. Richard Baker leads a “Bible to Sermon” class based on the Bible passage that is the text for that day’s sermon.
