Mission is at the heart of Second Presbyterian Church. We believe in wrapping our arms around our congregation, city, state, country and world. As our mission statements says, "The mission of Second Presbyterian Church is to be a family of faith making Jesus Christ our way of life ... through service, to put our arms around God's world."

We wrap our arms around our world ...

• Individuals from our church travel to locations including Egypt, Africa, Ireland and more to offer teaching and medical assistance.

We wrap our arms around our country ...

• Each year both youth and adult groups journey on several mission trips to minister to crisis needs elsewhere in our country. These trips range from two days to an entire week.

• Assistance is given to students in seminaries throughout our country.

• The Presbyterian Women of the church are involved in a wide variety of mission projects that include making clothing for inner-city thrift shops, financial aid for children and retirement homes, and assistance to various outreach organizations.

We wrap our arms around our city ...

• Each year our Christmas Benevolence program touches over 830 individuals by providing a week's worth of groceries, clothes, Christmas gifts, a Bible and more.

• Each year our Take it to Town mission event provides local agencies with much needed help by bringing a group of volunteers to clean, build, organize and plant.  A local one day mission event that gives back to our community.

• We work with the social agencies of our city to address compassionately human needs.

• We are in partnership with Westminster Presbyterian Church, an inner city church, where we tutor children, prepare youth for jobs, and help mothers with young children.

• We worked in alliance with the largest African-American congregation in the city to start "Celebration of Hope," a worship service in the city of Indianapolis that allows churches of different denominations to come together for hope and racial reconciliation.
