Take A Second - May 21, 2020
Each May we celebrate our second-year Lake Fellows as they prepare to leave Second. This tradition goes on -- no matter our distance!
HOW DO WE CARE FOR ONE ANOTHER?
Our social interaction may be limited, but we continue to show love and compassion for our family members, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. This week, we offer ways for you to care for others (and yourself!). Share your gratitude for Jasiel and Kelley, who have served alongside us for two years...Watch David Chaddock join other faith leaders to offer encouragement to those who might be struggling now...Celebrate today's Pantry Parade and your generous donations to sustain the Northside Food Pantry...Add your voice to our chorus of appreciation for teachers at Greenbriar Elementary School, as we care for our mission partner! Thank you for continuing to spread God's love by caring for those around you.
Sunday, May 24 “Planting in Exile”
This Sunday at 11 a.m. online only, Lake Fellow Rev. Kelley Jepsen preaches from the book of Jeremiah.
On Thursday evenings (tonight!), we invite you to join us for a Facebook Live prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m.
LAKE FELLOW LETTERS
Share your gratitude with Lake Fellows Rev. Jasiel Hernandez and Rev. Kelley Jepsen by sending a card or note to:
Letters and notes will be gathered and presented to Jasiel and Kelley before they leave Second this summer. You can watch this video conversation between Kelley and Chris Henry to learn about where she is heading. (Next week we'll feature an interview with Jasiel.) Let's make sure these two feel our love and support surround them as they take this next step!
HOW ARE YOU DOING?
Dr. David Chaddock, director of CenterPoint Counseling, joined Indianapolis faith leaders in today's mental health roundtable discussion hosted by Christian Theological Seminary. This interfaith discussion found common threads of shared grief, shared healing, and a time of deeper connection transcending our communities. Pull up a chair and listen for insight on self care, love for others, and our sense of shared faith during these times. (After you listen, think about who's on your quaranTEAM, as David encourages us to do!)
We are SO grateful for the food donations dropped off in the Pantry Parade this morning! Your generosity enables Northside Food Pantry to continue to lift spirits and relieve hunger for our neighbors. We also gathered some fantastic name ideas for the food pantry truck. (Stay tuned for the official name!) Thank you for being the church for those in need by continuing to heed God's call to love and care for our neighbors!
Join us in showing appreciation for the hard-working teachers of Greenbriar Elementary School. We are creating a BIG video greeting card, and we need you to be part of it!
It's quick and easy:
We'll take it from there. Thank you for sharing your appreciation with these caring souls!
