TOGETHER WE SERVE

Deep in our DNA is a call to serve. A drive to help others. The spirit of servant leadership. For nearly 200 years, our tradition of service at Second has united hearts and minds across our great city and beyond – and now, more than ever, this work goes on. This week, we can shop, we can shepherd, we can share, and we can embrace the opportunity to be sent, showing God's abundant love – as we serve those around us.

UPCOMING WORSHIP

Sunday, May 17: “God Won’t Give You More Than You Can Handle”
"For just as the sufferings of Christ are abundant for us, so also our consolation is abundant through Christ." (2 Corinthians 1:5)

This Sunday, Rev. Chris Henry wraps up a three-week series called “Beyond Clichés: Seeking a Deeper Faith.” Join us online only this Sunday at 11 a.m. (And be sure to sing along from home with a special video presentation by our Cherub and Carol children's choirs! Check out the video invitation here.)

On Thursday evenings (tonight!), we invite you to join us for a Facebook Live prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m. 

LET'S SHOP

Calling our congregation! Come to the Northside Food Pantry Parade next Thursday, May 21! Between now and then, add these items to your shopping cart at the grocery store:

• Canned vegetables (corn, green beans, peas, and diced tomatoes)
• Canned fruit (mandarin and pineapple)
• Pasta (spaghetti and macaroni)
• Boxes of macaroni and cheese
• Boxed cereal
• Paper towels

...Then, join the Pantry Parade to drop off your items on Thursday, May 21 from 9 to 11 a.m.!

• When you get to Second, follow the traffic directions to the Chapel door.
• Stay in your car. Volunteers will remove the food donations from the back of your vehicle.
• And, before you drive off, we need you to "Name that truck!" Our food pantry team has a bigger and better way to pick up even more food for our neighbors  – but it needs a name! A volunteer will be on hand to write your suggested name on a post-it to add to our new set of wheels!

Thank you for being the church by providing for our neighbors in need!                           

LET'S SHEPHERD

We are here to come along side one another – to shepherd each other – and be encouraging. Lend your ears (and then your voice – keep reading!) to this video conversation with Greenbriar Principal Tim Blom and Lake Fellow Rev. Chris Palmer, and join us to bring hope and love to the teachers at Greenbriar Elementary School, our mission partner and dear friends.

It's quick and easy:

1. Turn your phone sideways (don't cover up the microphone!) and flip the lens so it's on you!
2. With a loud, clear voice, record a five-second video greeting of love, peace, hope, and friendship. (Families, let your kids in on it, too!)
