Lift thine eyes, O lift thine eyes to the mountains, whence cometh help.
Thy help cometh from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He hath said, thy foot shall not be moved. Thy Keeper will never slumber.
Lift thine eyes, O lift thine eyes to the mountains, whence cometh help.

* Call to Worship                                               Rev. Karen L. Lang (9:30)

One: It is because we care that we have come to this place,

All: and it is because you care, O God, that we are welcome in your presence.

One: It is because we are grateful that we lift our hymns of praise,

All: and it is because you are gracious that you choose to listen with joy.

One: It is because we are hopeful that we come with whatever we have to offer,

All: and it is because you are the source of all hope that our offerings become instruments of your gospel’s work.

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession

One: If we say we are completely put together, the truth is not in us.
But if we confess our distractions, our errors, and our anxieties,
God will meet us and renew us.

All: Before God and God’s people, we confess that we have
been reluctant to speak out clearly,
naming the brokenness we see and declaring God’s vision.
Before God and one another,
we confess our reluctance
to receive our calling as God’s people,
made by God and chosen as witnesses
to God’s dream of justice and joy.
Remind us, God,
that you have made us for your service
and recharge us with your Word.
Renew us, God.
Grant us courage to live out your way of peace and grace.
We ask it in Jesus’ name.

Moment of Silent Meditation

We Give Thanks to God

* Affirmation of Faith from A Brief Statement of Faith    Rev. Christopher A. Henry

In life and in death we belong to God.
Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit,
we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel,
whom alone we worship and serve.
In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit,
we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives,
even as we watch for God's new heaven and new earth,
   praying, "Come, Lord Jesus!"
With believers in every time and place,
we rejoice that nothing in life or in death
can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy  kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
