Worship, Together

Beginning Sunday, May 29, we will shift into our summer tradition of one sanctuary worship time at 10:00. This is for all of Second’s worshipping community, in-person and broadcast.

To intentionally share the energy and impact of worship as one community, we will continue to hold this meaningful space of one sanctuary worship time for all beyond the summer months and into our full calendar, bringing our 9:30 and 11:00 worship services together. One sanctuary worship time, 10:00.

Also beginning May 29, we invite you into Milner Chapel at 11:05 for our Service of Wholeness and Communion*. This service will continue throughout the summer and full calendar year. Open to all, the Service of Wholeness and Communion offers a weekly opportunity to receive the gifts of scripture, prayer, and communion. After communion, anyone who wishes may receive anointing and prayer from a pastor.

8:15 a.m. Milner Chapel worship will continue until May 22 and, just like last summer, return on August 7.

CALLING ALL KIDS!

For children and youth, summer offers the opportunity to join parents at 10:00 in the sanctuary and, every Sunday, to join Rev. Chris Henry for Time with Children on the chancel steps. Here’s how it works!

  • Nursery, toddler, 2 year old care: second floor
  • Children 3 years old and older: start in the sanctuary
  • Children 3 years old – 3rd grade: start in the sanctuary, meet Rev. Chris Henry on the chancel steps for Time with Children, and then depart for scripture, activity, and playground!

This opportunity will continue beyond summer! All ages will share in sanctuary worship together at the 10:00 hour. YES! Kids will start and stay in sanctuary worship, and, after Labor Day, Children’s Choir will depart following Time with Children.

Beginning August 7, 9:00 a.m. will be the hour for formation for all, all at the same time! This is another step forward in sharing the power and energy of being together in scripture and in learning. Plus, this allows us to create new ways of engagement and community-building following sanctuary worship, connecting members and worshippers at Second in ways that further expand our congregational life. Stay tuned for all programming details! We’ll share more over the summer!

*There will be no Service of Wholeness and Communion on holiday weekends (May 29, July 3, or September 4).
