HYMN The powerful text of They Cast Their Nets in Galilee comes from a poem entitled “His Peace” from Enzio’s Kingdom and Other Poems by William Alexander Percy. His text is based largely on the great catch at Galilee as told in Luke 5:1. Percy, in response to the difficulties in his own life, relates that the peace of God, the peace that passes all understanding, is not a peace of external tranquility or the peace found in death. It is the peace bestowed by God, found only in the depths of our being, that gives us strength and assurance in spite of the strife that bombards our life.
