HYMN #111 Good Christians All, Rejoice and Sing! was written by respected scholar Cyril Alington (1872-1955) specifically for the hymn tune GELOBT SEI GOTT to which we sing it today. Alington penned numerous hymns and poems as well as being a prolific author of fiction and non-fiction. He was ordained in the Church of England, was headmaster of Eton College in the early part of the 20th century, and finished his career as dean of Durham Cathedral. Gelobt sei Gott (translating literally as Praise the Lord!), was first published in 1609 and written by the noted hymn composer Melchior Vulpius
