Jesus on the Mountain Peak was written by British author and pastor Brian Wren. Based on Matthew 17:2-5, the hymn divides the Transfiguration story into four parts: the image of Jesus’ face shining like the sun with clothes a blinding white; the appearance of Moses and Elijah, representing the law and prophets; the voice of God from a bright cloud proclaiming love for his Son; and finally our only response, a praise-filled “Alleluia.”
