DISASTER RELIEF BUCKET COLLECTION
Now – October 20, Atrium
Disaster Relief Buckets through Church World Service (CWS) truly make a difference in the lives of our neighbors when a disaster strikes. With hurricanes, floods, and other disasters occurring more frequently, these cleanup buckets, filled with essential home recovery supplies, are vital for helping affected communities. We encourage our congregation to take one of the 25 buckets from the Atrium, fill it with the requested items, and return it to the atrium by October 20. A supply list will be attached to the lid. Filled buckets will then be sent to CWS, ready to be dispatched to regions in need when the next disaster strikes.
This is a recent email from a CWS coordinator to Second Church:
"I want to share that shortly after the recent pick up of your kits, we were called upon to send out shipments to areas hit by Hurricane Beryl. The critical supplies our partners on the ground needed as they assisted those affected by the storm were available thanks to our partnerships with folks like you!"
Thank you for walking alongside our neighbors in a time of need.
This program is sponsored by Church World Services in partnership with Community Committee Deacons. We are also a drop off depot for other congregations wanting to participate with CWS.
October 21 – November 2, Second will be a CWS Depot Location where local congregations and other organizations can drop off their completed disaster, hygiene, and school kits in the Far North Parking lot for transport to CWS in Elkhart.
