Second Presbyterian Church has a variety of annual events that are open to the entire congregation. View Calendar
These events include:
• Festival
of Faith—Festival of Faith
is in its 11th year as a weekend opportunity
for Christian fellowship, spiritual growth and
education. With the help of a special guest
speaker and wonderful workshop presenters, Festival
of Faith presents an opportunity for members
of Second Presbyterian Church and the community
at large to explore the meaning of Jesus Christ
in our contemporary world.
• Second
at the Lake—This intergenerational
weekend retreat, held at the Oakwood conference
Center on Lake Wawasee, brings together
people from all ages to learn and grow together
in God’s love through an uplifting
speaker, group singing, games, campfires, and
recreation, along with special programs for
children and youth.
• Church
Picnic—This church-wide event,
held on a Sunday morning in August at Eagle
Crest Park, includes an intergenerational worship
service, a great meal and entertaining games
and activities for all ages.
• Men's
Steak Dinner—The dinner, sponsored
by the Men's Fellowship each spring, draws men
and their children and grandchildren for a great
dinner, the presentation from a special speaker,
and prizes for all the children in attendance.
• Sweetheart
Banquet—This Valentine's Day
dinner for couples has been held at our church
for many years and in recent years the event
has been held jointly with the Light of the
World Christian Church, with which we have developed
a sister church relationship through the ministry
of Celebration of Hope.
• Great
Banquet—The Great Banquet
is a 72-hour experience that is based on the
Catholic Cursillo retreat. Beginning on Thursday
evening and ending Sunday evening, participants
live and study together in a worshipful time
of learning, singing, prayer and discussion.
• Celebration
of Hope—This ministry of racial
reconciliation, begun in 1994 by the senior
pastors of our congregation and the Light of
the World Christian Church, brings members of
churches in the Indianapolis area together for
worship services to promote racial understanding
and harmony.
